Sarah Paterson-Hamlin for Whau Councillor

Kia ora! I’m Sarah, a dedicated Whau Local Board Member, passionate community and disabilities advocate, and Mum of two.

Easy read version

I live and work here in the Whau, and I have a vision for a Tāmaki Makaurau where everyone can enjoy our beautiful city without barriers, where our journeys to work and play are a safe bike ride, an uncongested drive, or a reliable public transport route away, and where our communities are empowered to thrive.

I’ve spent nearly ten years working in the disabilities and charities sectors. Now, with the strength of our talented and diverse Labour team, I’m running for Ward Councillor to make Whau accessible, sustainable, inclusive, and fun!

My focus for the Whau

As your next Ward Councillor, I will bring fresh energy, experience, local perspective, and a strong sense of community to the role. These are the priorities I will focus on to ensure the Whau, and Tāmaki Makaurau, thrives.

Improving accessibility for Tangata Whaikaha

Disabled people face so many unnecessary challenges when it comes to enjoying our city. I will continue the passionate and impactful mahi I have begun on the Local Board to represent the diverse disabilities community and reduce barriers to inclusion across Auckland.

I believe in a Whau where everyone can feel safe, welcome, and valued. That means supporting people of all ages and backgrounds through community organisations and initiatives, and fostering strong, connected neighbourhoods that increase public safety
