Kia ora! Hello! My name is Sarah
Kia ora! Hello! My name is Sarah
I want to help people by joining Auckland Council.
Auckland Council is a group of 21 people who lead and look after Auckland.
The leader of this group is the Mayor.
The other 20 people are called Councillors.
Each Councillor represents a different part of Auckland.
I want to represent the area where I live, the Whau. I want to be the Whau Ward Councillor.
The Whau area is the suburbs of Avondale, Blockhouse Bay, Green Bay, Kelston, New Lynn, and New Windsor.
To become the Whau Ward Councillor, I need to be elected or chosen by the people who live here.
To be elected, more people need to vote for me than anyone else in the election this year.
For Easy Read information about the election, go to the vote auckland website
If I get elected, there are things I want to do as Councillor.
I want to help make Auckland a better place to live for disabled people.
I will do this with things like wheelchair access, communication boards, and lots of other ways to make Auckland work for all of us.
I want to help to look after the environment
I will do this with things like planting more trees, and helping people move around Auckland without cars if they want to.
I want everyone to feel safe and connected in Auckland
I will do this by helping libraries, community centres, youth spaces, public spaces, and all the places we might get together and be with others
If you are 18 years old or older, please vote in the election this year.
